The Elmira Star Gazette is run by Lois Wilson, who exposes her journalistic impartiality and proffessionalism by writing anti-Republican rants on the opinion page. As you can see below, she also hires others to write attack pieces. No attempt for balance or fainess there. Below one of the articles censored by the Star-Gazette: Letter to the Editor of Star-Gazette The left –wing bias of the Star Gazette editorial page is clear to all readers. To illustrate the bias, I collected the papers from Dec 2011 and measured the column inches critical of or making fun of the Republican candidates and the Democrat candidate. Only articles or political cartoons, that the Star Gazette had paid for, were included. Total of the column inches was 400.5" of which 337.5 or 84% were anti Republican candidates and 63" or 16% were critical of the Democrat. The anti Democrat candidate material came from two articles written by a left wing columnist blaming President Obama for not living up to his campaign promises about environmental regulation. She wanted Obama to put even more devastating shackles on the economy. The material to expose the Democrat candidate’s shortcomings is voluminous including national debt, jobless rate, depression in housing, the Solyndra scandal and other Obama corruptions. There are many columnists and cartoonists who portray these issues and are published in other newspapers. It can be concluded that it is a choice that the Editors of the Star – Gazette have made the decision to not be fair and balanced editorially. Rainer Langstedt |
